This pickup is part of a special-order production run that we are making available exclusively via the web store. These are not available in retail stores and have otherwise only been available in special Handmade MTD Saratoga basses.

The design is unique to match well in the bridge position with b-axis J45J-LN-19 or b-axis PB5-19 in the neck position. The DG5PJ-19 structure is quad-coil with dual inline coils at the bridge side and P offset split coils at the neck side. It is cabled with 4-conductor so it can be split or wired series or parallel. It is hum-cancelling in all wiring configurations like our 2J Squared series pickups. The voice is very clear and super punchy. It is ideal for 19mm string spacing at the bridge and it works equally well with 18mm spacing.

The b-axis pickups series is based on the very foundations of Bill Bartolini's initial pickup designs back in the early '70s. The guiding design principle was to provide a highly asymmetric magnetic field to fully capture string vibration. This "high asymmetry" (hence the pickup's original "High A" name) provides tone like acoustic instruments, which have a naturally asymmetric response due to bridge structure and variations in biased tension.
They feature a new and unique fully encapsulated Alnico V exposed pole design, and yet they are still fully shielded like all our enclosed pickups. The cable is shielded as well.
